My Powerpoint freezes when I try and put it into presenter view, the dock disappears, and the presentation fades, then freezes.

This issue began when I had to move to a new MacBook Air, running Mojave 10.14.4. My Powerpoint presentation opens when I double click on it. But set it to presenter view, and the dock instantly disappears, the presentation fades, then PPT freezes for that presentation. I've tested my PPT presentations on another Mac and they function fine. I'm running Office 2011, version 14.0. When I try and update, I get the message 'AutoUpdate cannot connect to the update server'. Is it something in the settings?
