Migrating from Aperture to Capture One 12

I have held on to using Aperture for as long as possible, but with the recent announcement that Aperture will no longer work with Catalina, I know I have to make some changes and I need help.

First, my Mac is 10 years old. I will be getting a new one this year. After looking at options to replace Aperture, I am quite sure I will be going with Capture One 12. I am no expert at any of this and need help with the following:

Does anyone know if Capture One 12 still has an import from Aperture feature?

If it does, will it work with my Aperture library as it is managed (not referenced)?

If it does work, when I import the Aperture library into a Capture One catalogue can that catalogue be referenced?

If that all works out, can I then delete Aperture?

And I guess the last important question is, if my new computer comes with Catalina, can I do any of this at all (do I need Aperture to run to do this migration)?

Sorry for all the questions, but at least they are all related. I have over 20,000 photos collected over10 years all with folder and album structures, keywords, and ratings. I am terrified of loosing all that work.

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Q1 - Yes it does.

This might be helpful - look towards the end of the page: https://help.phaseone.com/en/CO12/Organizing-Photos/Working-with-Catalogs/Importing-Catalogs

Q2 - It's not clear, but you can convert a Managed to a Referenced library easily using the Relocate Masters command, under the Aperture File Menu

Q3 - Check the CO12 manual, linked above.

Q4 - Yes

Q5 bearing in mind that you may need to relocate the Masters, best to have Aperture available.

20k photos isn't really a whole lot these days. You can write the metadata to the files and so preserve it. Also, you don't have to jump right in. Make a small 100 shot library and explore. Also google around. You won't be the first person to do this. For instance:
