Blurry front facing camera

Hi I just got the iPhone XS MAX and I am really upset about the front facing camera quality. It looks like my face is being smoothed and blurred. Is there any setting I can turn off to fix this? I don’t want my skin to be altered in any photos and I’m ready to get a new phone if this can’t be fixed. Thanks
