A friend of mine sent me a screen shot that said Cannot Take Photo Update your camera with the use of an itunes gift card at the apple store or contact the apple care for complaints and enquiries (yes it was spelled that way) Thank You

It sounds like ransomware, but it isn't possible to hack an iPhone unless it is jailbroken. Could this be the case with her iPhone?
At any rate ransom requests should not be paid as the scammers usually take the money and do nothing to fix the problem. What happens when she clicks on Cancel?
