I am trying to install Mojave’s 10.14.5 and it will not work in the system preferences at all, and when downloaded from Apple support, it says “volume does not meet the requirements for this update” but there are 915gb available.

Is the drive formatted as APFS?
Yes, should it be formatted differently?
No. If it was, that would be one cause of the problem.
