Can you use your music from iTunes on any MP3 player ?

I'm not an apple person, but my kids are (iPhone) and they have extensive music collection.

So I have a question, can you use your music from iTunes on any MP3 player?

The reason I would want it, to be able to use an MP3 player to play music while swimming/doing laps.

I've seen where a shuffle can be used, but I don't want to pay that much, and it's out of date anyway.

Also wireless doesn't work in this larger pool.

Other water proof mp3 players are much cheaper, and look more water resistant.

Ok you apple hipsters, help me out.

Thanks a lot.

For songs and albums that were actually bought, check to see if it supports MP4 songs; if not, they'll need to be converted.

For songs and albums that were gotten through an Apple Music subscription, no.
