Apple ID message
I received the following message, ostensibly from "service-team@apple.com." Its text reads:
Dear User, Someone just tried to log into your Apple account from a different IP address.
- We need to verify your identity today or your account will be disabled because of the concerns we have for the safety and integrity of the Apple Community. Details log in from Windows Xp, IP Address : 128.21.33.8
- Country : Russian
- Date : 06/20/2019
- Browser : Mozilla 5.0
Once you have verify your account information records, your information will be confirmed and your account will start to work as normal once again.
I find this very suspicious. "Russian" is not a country. It has no information to suggest it even knows who I am. It says "different IP address," but different from what? The last sentence would fail 4th-grade grammar. I got the message 3 days ago but no follow-up saying my account has been disabled.
Yet the sending email address, at least without examining the trace route, seems legit.
Any ideas about this? What should one do with such a message?
