If your iMac originally shipped from the factory with install discs you'll need those discs, it's too old to use internet recovery. Alternately you could purchase a Snow Leopard install disc https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard?fnode=bd9dfffc279ae7442f708bc58e670bfa2fb10c38ba69315b8f19418f0f4a437909581aba51d5e49477b6012969df04fd195e3bc582cb35c445185550baa9761f925ed06c56d8b7ddb3df1e86e6a9f6b529f3b359eebefbe577655ab7f3d19dce
