safari hangs

Safari is frequently not responsive - when I start up my Macmini it may respond to links in emails or direct typing in browser page for a while and then nothing- it just sulks and does nothing.

I tried the dirty tricks removing Mobile Device frameworks a couple of weeks ago and it worked fine for a while but back to sulking again (the odd success with link or direct type). Now unable to remove Mobile Device thingie - it is back! because Mac OS is using it!

Now what?

You may  have adware/malware installed. Try downloading this program which was written by Thomas R, a long time poster. The program will search for malware/adware. The program will do the work for you which makes it easy. It may be necessary to run more than one scan. After running the scans, restart the computer.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac      10.10 and later

Malwarebytes uninstall

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.

Safe Mode - About

If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor.  Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown. If the log won’t post, try posting it in Pastebin and provide a link in a reply        Pastebin

Hi Eric

Thank you so much for such a speedy reply.

Before I proceed with downloading Malwarebytes and running it I would like to ask you another question. I maybe should have put more info in my rant yesterday.

This problem with Safari and Mail had been driving me mad for months and I had tried all sorts of "cures' from Apple forums with no success and finally purchased MacPaw Clean my Mac. To my great delight (apart from clearing out loads of junk) the Safari thing vanished and things have been fine until two weeks ago.

I run Macpaw very regularly to clean and tidy and empty caches etc and run the malware detector- twice yesterday before my entry to Apple Community and nothing detected. Does the Malwarebytes Anti Malware reach parts that MacPaw does not?

I await your comments

thank you again

Suzi
