com.apple.cloudphotosd takes up to much space. What can one do to reduce it?

Hello, I created a second partition and moved the photo library there to constrain its total size to 10 GB which works great. However the shared folders still take up excessive space on the main partition.

Library > Containers > com.apple.cloudphotosd

Uses over 25GB.

Is there a solution to make the shared albums enabled option to behave like the Optimized storage option?

No, there is not an optimize option for shared photo albums.

If you want to remove them from your Mac, enable them as a public web site, then disable the shared albums on your Mac in Photos temporarily. You should still be able to see the shared albums in the web browser, using the link to the web site.

But as soon as you enable the shared albums again in Photos, they will download again to your Mac.
