I don't want to own certain items and I can figure out how to get rid of them.
I don't want to just delete the download from my device. That is not the problem.
Some of the free songs are terrible or have swearing in it.
Some of the free tv shows and movies are inappropriate for my kids and I don't want them to even see we own them and I don't want to ever watch them.

You can't permanently delete any purchase from an account, all you can do is hide them so that they don't show in the Purchased section for redownloading : Hide and unhide music, movies, TV shows, audiobooks, and books - Apple Support

You can hide them from showing from showing for redownloading/streaming by following those instructions, that will apply to everywhere you use the account, not just on the Apple TV
