Safari shut down

Hi everybody,

Safari 12.1 keeps shutting down unexpectedly about a week. I have followed (and learned a lot) some instructions suggested for similar questions here, but the issue persists. I have MacBook mid-2010. Security update 2019-003 was fine in May. I cleared history and cache; started Mac and Safari in safe mode; I'm using Kaspersky Internet security, did full scan, turned protection off, inactivate Safari extension; I tried Malwarebytes, did scan a few times; checked Internet plug-ins in Library folder; deleted and re-installed Flash Player. I noticed Safari quits every time I click Privacy/Manage Website Data. I managed only to check the box "Block all cookies" now. Also, after I cleared all history, I could start Safari neither from dock or application folder. Somehow I managed to open Safari again through Finder/Help/ Mac Help and a hyperlink. I don't understand what's going on and would appreciate any further advice!

The test is failed unfortunately. I've also tried to remove Internet plugins from the Library folders guided by https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203353. There are only these files in one of the folders:

Safari continues shutting down no matter what. Still impossible to clear cookies, it quits directly. When I choose to block cookies in Preferences, it looks like it works. But then I cannot use Google/mail.

If it is relevant, I remember Mac starts very slowly sometimes. You only see the apple logo and a progress bar. Nothing happens, I usually restart. I mean: can my Safari problem be caused by hardware?

If hardware was the problem, it shouldn't have worked normally in the other user account.

Try this to clear the cookies since blocking them helps. Quit Safari.

In Finder go to Go menu and then Go to Folder.

Copy and paste this ~/Library/Safari/Databases.

Delete the contents of the folder.

Launch Safari again and check if all is ok.

If that doesn’t work, copy and paste this ~/Library/Safari/LocalStorage.

Delete the contents of the folder.

Then go to Safari/History and delete any entries for the related websites.

Test.

I would uninstall Kapersky. Its tends to interfere with the computer's operation while providing minimal to no benefit unless you work with Windows files. Most long time posters recommend not using antivirus software or cleaning software such as CleanMyMac.

Kapersky Uninstall

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.

I'm working on it. So far I uninstalled Kaspersky; Safari still crashes though. I used another admin user account and Safari was functioning properly! When I changed to my actual admin account and started Mac in the safe mode, the problem came back. Safari shuts down immediately when I'm going to YouTube, Google translate, a few other websites, and trying to clear cookies Preferences/Manage WebsiteData. I will try to compare Safari preferences in the both admin accounts. Will it make any sense?

Jul 3, 2019 5:55 AM in response to Eric Root

I couldn't see a big difference between the two accounts' preferences so the problem must be somewhere else.

Here's the report. I will appreciate very much any comments, conclusions, guess..
