Never went to the cloud - and email with mac.com extension did sync with my mac until last year. It was not my main use for email - but was wondering if apple has a web site where can access same on line when I am at the library which is not very often.
@mac.com email comes to the inbox of the @icloud.com account which has the same text before the '@'. If you go to https://www.icloud.com and go to the Mail page, then sign in with the @mac.com address or the @cloud.com equivalent you can read your mail there. Note that you can't do this on a mobile device.
I’ve had my .mac.com email address for eons. Even when it switched to me.com, way back, I was able to continue to use mac.com. And, nowadays, one can even use a .icloud.com address, as well, all for the same user email account, all depending on how you have it set up.
If you have an Apple email app, you’d have red notifications of any .mac.com messages on any of your devices, easily accessible, negating having to, separately, go to the Apple website to retrieve your mail.
