Apple ID shows incorrectly

The Apple ID that appears when I try to download an update is incorrect by one letter, thus it appears in greyscale, and I cannot enter my password to complete the updates. How did the ID get changed by one letter, and how can I correct it?

I don't know how you managed to do the original download if that isn't an Apple ID and as far as I know, that can't be changed. A request for another Apple ID password is often caused by updates to apps/purchases that were made when using the other ID. Those purchases are tied to the other ID and can't be transferred. One option is to delete the apps/purchases made by the other ID and download them using the new ID if desired. If necessary, check your purchases history to see which apps/purchases weren’t made by the current ID.
