Finder Preview changed?

I am missing my old finder format where I showed listed files with a preview ON TOP. Now it is on the side...any way to change it?

Finder hiding files I used to be able to find downloads and other files by clicking on Finder. Now I just see what is below, a list of "tags" that mean nothing to me. Under Downloads, it's blank, even though there are lots of files there. I don't see anything to click to bring back the old screen, which used to have Recents, Downloads, etc. The files still exist as I can find them if I look hard enough, but it takes much longer than just using Finder. Is there a way to return the old format?

How to view File Size in all Finder column-view windows? I'm dumbfounded that Apple has changed this critical Information listing, that used to appear when selecting a file/doc/image in Finders column view interface. File "Size" - or byte size - is easily one of the most critical pieces of information. Now I have to click Get Info every time? Why on Earth?....just why would that be removed from its long standing default Info listing in the Info section? To add unnecessary mouse clicks and movements? I select an image in Finder, looked through the Finder View / Show view options. Not there. An online search has been unproductive and I have to ask here: How to restore file/byte Size to list in every Finder column-view Info section? In previous OS's, byte Size was default:

File info & thumbnail display in finder window Hello people, My finder windows are displaying on the right side an entire section dedicated for the file thumnail and some basic info. I don't know how this section is called. Unfortunately, even when no file is selected, the full section is still there and empty. A big waste of space on my screen. Is there a way I make this full section closed by default in my finder and automatically open when I'm browsing through JPG and TIFF files ? Thanks, Alexandre

No. Not cover flow. It is the list view with Preview checked in View and previously, you could have the Preview on the top. With Mojave, it appears to only be available on the right hand side.

If you mean Cover Flow view, no, it's gone.

Menu > View > Hide Preview

Menu > View > As Gallery

Sorry, I don't remember that. I have versions of OS X going back to 10.7 Lion and none are like that. Perhaps Snow Leopard or earlier but I don't remember any. Just Cover Flow…
