AirDrop Unresponsive/not activating

Good day,

Im using a 2011 MacBook Pro, Ive always enjoyed using Airdrop between my apple devices to share files. But its has recently given me problems. It doesnt want to pick up other devices, more is it showing on other devices. I've tried a lot of the You Tube fixes but none speak to my specific and particular issue.

It doesn't give me an option to turn on my AirDrop or any of the previous option it use to offer. Please Help

MacBook Pro 13", OS X 10.11

What has changed?

For example OS on the Mac.. did you upgrade? What to?

iOS did you upgrade? What to?

What specific devices are you trying to share between so we have some hope of replicating the problem.

What wireless router do you have? Make and model? Is it new?

Are both devices using the same wireless band.. it might not work if one is on 5ghz and the other on 2.4ghz.. which is a common issue.

I have to add airdrop is a bit out of the scope of this discussion area.. particularly if you are not using an Apple airport router which is our speciality.

As a BTW.. I agree. airdrop drops dead at the sight of air.. it is a particularly fragile app.. in my experience.

There are huge numbers of lists of fixes.. because there is a huge list of problems.

The problem is both devices must share over wifi via peer to peer and over bluetooth.

I had an OS update and I'm now using an iPhone 7 to connect to my 2009 MacBook Pro. I've always been able to send files back and forth to either my iPad or iPhone 4s or other MacBook Pros.

I'm using the latest iOS on my iPhone 7. My devices are all on the same WiFi. The weird thing is I can share files between my iPhone and my iPad with much ease but I can't seem to do the same with my Mac.

The problem has been going on for sometime time now so I'm certain its not a wireless router issue as we use Fibre Connection in all my homes.

I am not sure how fibre connection is related to the issue.

Do you mean the wireless router supplied by ISP has never been changed?

Wireless must be on and working in the Laptop.. but with your extra info the issue is now forced down to ONE ONLY laptop which happens to be an old model, 2009. These famously have multiple wireless issues.

Test if bluetooth is still working properly on this laptop by pairing a keyboard or mouse with it. Make sure both the laptop and the phone are on the same band on your wifi router. So if the phone is using 5ghz make sure the Mac is as well. Plus you need to do this test up close to ensure bluetooth has enough signal strength.
