Can Not Install MacOS Mojave 10.14.4

Hello Please Help, I keep getting the error pasted below while trying to update MacOS Mojave 10.14.3 to 10.14.4

Can not Install Mojave update. I get this error everytime.

Any reason you are trying 10.14.4 and not the current 10.14.5?

Try downloading the relevant Combo Update and running it.

If the Combo also crashes, try running it whilst booted in Safe Mode.

Also, there are probably issues with your current installation that may be causing this.

You could run Etrecheck and post its report here for us to take a look.

Try installing while in Safe Mode.

Are you saying you can't boot into Safe Mode? Make sure to release the Shift key when you see the Apple logo.

By definition, the Combo Update works on any previous version of 10.14 (actually it can be installed over the very same version).

So NO, you do not need to install 10.14.4 before running the 10.14.5 Combo.

There is clearly something amiss in your system, though.

I'd still like to see the Etrecheck report.

Maybe you have some bad actor like "cleanmymac" or other software that, while not flagged by the report, may be causing problems.

I don't see anything untoward in the report.

I'm thinking that your download of the Combo Update may be corrupted somehow.

I'd try downloading the Combo Update again:

i tried that as well but then it restarts and tries to start up from the MacOS update volume as a part of the update process. when it does this, the computer just keeps restarting until i boot back to my normal startup disk volume by holding the alt/option button

Well the updaters do restart a machine several times. Depends on how many you mean.

You have a replacement drive from OWC. I know they released some firmware updates recently. You might check with them.

Unfortunately they didn't release one for that model...

any ideas what else could cause this issue please? i get the error below after the installation fails.

also forgot to mention i tried running the Combo in Safe-Mode but the system displays "Your computer restarted because of a problem" when it is installing the update
