I got a call a few minutes ago that showed APPLE INC as the caller ID and it was a robomessage saying my Apple ID was compromised and prompted me to "press 3" to talk to an operator. Assumed it was fraudulent, hung up and changed my Apple ID anyway. Anyone heard of this scam?

Yes, it's been going around for a long time. They even spoof legit Apple phone numbers. Nothing can happen from picking up the phone but it can't hurt to change your Apple ID. Usually they are looking to sell you a $700 "protection package". Some of them even call it AppleCare.

It's very common. Caller ID has been made completely useless. Crooks can make anything they want appear as the name and number shown.
Also, Apple does not call users from out of the blue.
Yeah, I don't even bother answering anymore if I don't recognize the caller (and as Kurt says, Apple will never initiate a call with a customer). If the caller is legit they'll leave a voicemail.
