Reducing size of photos

I need to reduce the size of uploaded photos for a web site. The photos need to be less than 1200 pixels wide or less than 700kb. I don’t even know how to see the size of the photos so reducing them is impossible! I don’t want to email them to myself, I feel there must be a more straightforward way to do this.

I’d be grateful for some guidance!

Photos for iOS is only storing and saving the photos at the original resolution and does not allow to reduce the size and quality inside the Photos Library. When you need photos at a different resolution, you have to export them from Photos with a sharing extensions, that allows to resize the photo. Sending the photos by mail is the easiest way to create a new, smaller version. Sharing a photo to a shared album will reduce the size to 2048 pixels at the longest edge.

To see the current pixel size and file size of a photo on an iPad you can use an extension to show the exif tags, ViewExit, Inspector, or Metapho can show you the filename, the pixel size, and file size. The are trial versions at the AppSTore may suffice.
