M4P Files Burn to CD with Wrong Song Lengths

I am running iTunes V12.9.5.7 on Win10/64. When I use iTunes to burn Apple m4p songs to a CD, about 1/3 or more of the songs on the CD have an incorrect song length. Some are cut short, some have lots of time after the end. I have verified the song file itself on the CD is bad, not just the metadata that indicates song length. I have tried this multiple times, to different disc media, and at different CD write speeds. No change. As a result, I am avoiding iTunes song purchases because of this problem, which appears to be an iTunes bug. I regularly use this CD drive for optical burning and playing and I have never encountered this type of problem before. I'm sure I have burned m4p files to CD before, not sure how long ago..

CD burning in iTunes has been broken to some degree or other since build 12.7.1. 😐 Try selecting the playlist you want to burn, then right-click on the playlist name in the sidebar and use Burn Playlist to disc there, rather than using the option in the File menu. Don't burn at max. speed. Do test burn to erasable media.

As eluded to above, I used an old Acronis image file to back-level my c: partition. Still at Win10 but iTunes at 12.4.16. Burning to CD works perfectly at this build. Yes, I have a very recent image file to put everything back like it was. When I finally get rid of iTunes in the next couple of days, I really won’t care what bug-ridden build I have.

Thanks to turingtest2 for helping me decide what I had to do. No thanks to Apple – as a loyal iTunes customer for years, I wouldn’t want to disturb your quest for that next pot of gold.

Thanks for your response. Right-clicking on playlists is how I have been doing it. Since write speed is about the only variable here, I have tried MAX, 6X, 2X, and 1X. No change. I do think this is a blatant bug. Do you have any idea when Apple will fix their blatant bug? I think I have an old Acronis image file of my c: partition that I can use to temporarily back-level iTunes for this burn processing. You seem to think this might work prior to 12.71, correct? It's amazing how bad Apple has screwed iTunes up.
