SPLIT FUSION!

I have an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017). Everything is current with the OS. My fusion drive is split. I've tried everything.

Started up in recovery mode and used the terminal app. typed in "diskutil resetFusion" followed by "Yes" just as prescribed by 3 tech support specialists and online articles.

Still, no solution.

What should I do now? I purchased AppleCare+ and still have a year of coverage. Should I take my iMac into have a certified Mac technician look at it?

For all I know there could be something wrong withe the actual physical drive.

Suggestions?

Thanx!

AJ

The direction on how reestablish a Fusion Drive are at https://blog.macsales.com/15617-creating-your-own-fusion-drive/

Read it over and see how comfortable you are about doing all of the commands in Terminal.

I did it to make my own Fusion Drive for my Mac Pro and I didn't find it very difficult.

If not, you can always call your local Apple Store and ask them if they will do it for you.

The page that you referred me to says the following: A 2012 Mac mini – this is an absolute requirement as these are the only machines that currently have a version of Disk Utility that can create a Fusion volume.

What type of Mac computer did I say that I have? I'm glad that it worked for you.

I am an Apple customer. I purchased a $2000.00 iMac computer to which I also paid an additional fee for an extended AppleCare warranty. This additional cost was paid so that I could rest assured knowing that someone else (a trained and qualified Apple technician) would do all the hard thinking for me.

I don't care if the instructions are simple enough for a blind monkey to follow.., the bottom line is that I shouldn't have to research, read, and follow written instructions that are posted on some blog.

I HAVE NO BUSINESS OPENING AND ACCESSING THE TERMINAL APP.
