GoToMyPC does not work on my new Mac Mojave 10.4 computer

Hi everyone:

Hoping someone can help. I bought a new Mac computer with Mojave 10.4 software on it. And GoToMyPc does not work on my new Mac. When I travel I need to access my desktop rom my Mac laptop. I can log into the computer, but I can only view things. I cannot access anything on the screen.

Hoping someone can help. I've been on the phone for hours with GoToMyPC support and also Apple support and no once can help.

When I try to add GoToMyPc under Security-Privacy and then Accessibility, my computer does not let me add any software there.

Thanks for your help.

Susan

Thank you for the response.

I notice you said that when you click the + sign nothing happens as well as that the steps to add the software is grayed out . Did you already click on the lock in the bottom left hand corner of the preferences window to unlock the section? It will remain grayed out unless you click the lock icon and enter your Admin User name and Password.

Here is a screenshot of what I am referencing if it helps. The lock should be open in your case.

Hey there Susan!

If you are having issues with GoToMyPc not allowing you to make any changes (such as clicking on desktop items) this could be because of a variety of issues. In most cases, adding GoToMyPc under the Apple Logo>System preferences>Security & Privacy>Privacy is a good start.

I noticed you said that when you attempted to do this that your "computer does not let me add any software there". Are you getting a specific error when trying to add the software or is it just grayed out when you click on the accessibility option in the sidebar of the privacy window under Security & privacy?

Yes - I followed those exact steps. But my Mac does not allow any software to be added when unlocking the padlock. That’s the issue. When the padlock is unlocked and I click the plus sign to add the GTMPC software in my applications folder nothing happens - it does not get added. It’s a Mac Mojave issue because it worked perfectly on my older computer. Neither parties want to find the problem. They say it is not their issue.

That is definitely very interesting!!

To clarify just a bit, when you say that you click the + to add the GTMPC software nothing happens does clicking the + sign just present a blank screen? Or are you saying that when you select the GTMPC software from within Applications it appears as though it loads and then doesn't? Additionally, if you are able to attach a screenshot of that issue it may help a bit. You can do so using Shift+Command+3 on the Mac.

Some people get accustomed to certain programs, no harm in that.

If the issue began after Mojave and the normal fixes do not work the problem is most likely due to compatibility between the application and the new version of macOS. In that instance the developer of that software will need to do something to accommodate for that as it is up to the developer to make those changes.

If TeamViewer is free, and works similarly that sounds like a decent alternative in the meantime!

I only offered the suggestion as a troubleshooting action. If TeamViewer works then the issue may not be related to system settings but something specific to GoToMyPC. Just trying to help. If the OP wants to stick with GoToMyPC that's fine with me. I have no interest in either product. Myself, I would try TeamViewer as a test instead of beating my head against a rock for hours.

I have contacted GoToMyPc support and also Mac support. Both parties say it is not their issue.

I have been using GoToMyPc software for 14 years successfully but only with an older Mac. As soon as I purchased a new Mac that had Mojave on it, GTMPC does not work.

Like I said previously in another response, I can get onto the remote computer, but can only view it. Cannot access anything.

So I just downloaded TeamViewer and it also asks me to go to Security & Privacy, unlock the padlock and go to applicatikons and find the TeamViewer software and click okay to get it added. Same thing. No software is added to access to my Mac.

So it's the same issue and the GoToMyPc software. The steps I described in the screenshots below.
