Apple ID and Password vs Username and Password?

I've tried to update or download app software. A box asks for Username and Password...

Why does it not ask for APPLE ID and Password? I have only one password. Not sure what goes with Username's password?

MacBook Pro 15", macOS 10.14

The username will be your Apple ID, but it's certainly confusing. The only place with a separate username is these forums.
