Apple ID is already added?

A while back I accidentally deleted the mail app on my iPhone 6. I redownloaded it and tried to sign in with my iCloud account. I keep getting a message that my iCloud account is already added. How can I access my mail?

Have you checked Settings/Passwords & Accounts to see if the iCloud email address is there and is enabled?
