Macbook Applecare

I just tried purchasing AppleCare for my new MacBook. I bought the MacBook in the end of March, it's now the beginning of July and I am being told I can longer purchase it! You only have 60 days to buy AppleCare? My old MacBook I had a year. How does this make any sense.

The old Applecare plan could be purchased for a year and that is no longer available in most countries. the replacement is Applecare + and it must be purchased within 60 days. That has now been in effect for about 2 years.
