My iPad mini 4 stops voice recording after a few seconds with a Shure MV88 microphone attached. Voice recording works perfectly fine without external microphone. Same faulty behavior with Apple Voice memo app (stop after three seconds) and with Shure Motiv Audio app (stop after less than one second).

Have you tried a hard reset of your iPad by holding down both the Home and sleep/wake buttons simultaneously until your iPad goes to black and restarts with Apple logo, then release the buttons?
How much internal free data storage space is left on the iPad?
How many apps do you leave in the iOS background app switcher that have the potential to be still working in the background?

Hard reset seems to solve the problem. Comes as a surprise, as an iOS update to the latest version did not help. Thanks a lot!
