Can't make a call from my Mac when using the iPhone as a hotspot

Hi,

When I'm out and don't have access to a WiFi, I use the iPhone as a hotspot as anyone else.

At this moment, the only way to answer or make a call is using the iPhone.

Reading Apple forums they explain that to receive and make a call on other apple devices (Mac, iPad, ex) they both need to be in the same WiFi and near each other, but haven't found yet, Why can't do this when iPhone is being use as a hotspot?

Anyone can clear this question out.

Thanks

The reason is that when using it as a "hotspot" your iPhone's wireless hardware is dedicated to the functions of a wireless access point, while iOS is performing the functions of a router—exactly as you wrote.

In that mode of operation, its wireless radio cannot be used for iPhone Cellular Calls. In that mode, "Wi-Fi" as it has commonly come to be known, is considered "off". Wi-Fi has to be "on" for that Continuity feature to work.
