Apple Music on homepod

My partners Apple ID was used to set up our HomePod. He does not have an Apple Music subscription but I do, yet when I try to ask Siri to play something through my Apple Music account it fails to recognise me and says ‘you need an Apple Music account’ or ‘sorry i can’t find that in your music’. I can only play songs from my music library. How do we work around this?

HomePod Mini I'm using iTunes Match on all my devices and I can play any song via all the Apple hardware, ie. Mac, iPad, AppleTV, iPhone. I can say "Hey Siri play some music" and it will play some random music, then will it is playing that music I ask "Hey Siri play more from this artist" it will play more from the particular artist that was playing at the time I asked. This works perfectly fine on all my Apple Hardware as mentioned above. However when I try to do the same thing on the HomePod mini it does not work and comes back with "I can't play that on Apple Music". It is the same with if I ask about playing more from this album. Same result, yet it works perfectly fine on all my other Apple hardware. Why is it that on the HomePod mini I have to have an Apple Music account yet for all my other hardware, ie. Mac, iPad, AppleTV, iPhone it works fine without needing Apple Music account. Has anyone else come across this, someone who only has iTunes Match account but not Apple Music. If anyone can help. HomePod no longer plays my songs on request only from iPhone? Since most recent update I seemed to have lost the ability too ask Siri to "play Bob Seger" or whomever I ask from my library. I can ask a band name, album name or song name and Siri responds with "I can't find any... in your music". Never had this happen in past 2 years but now after update from last week 13.3.1 I've lost requests ability. I don't have Apple Music subscription but have thousands of songs/albums bought from Apple Music and many more ripped from cd's. Tried removing from Home app and rebooting and a complete reset but neither worked. Any help?

You can only use one Apple ID .

The only solutions are for him to get an Apple Music account or you could set up the HomePod from scratch using your device and Apple ID

It may well be easier if you set up from scratch however it should be possible to change which account is signed in. See the Manage music & podcasts section of Change settings for HomePod - Apple Support.
