MacBook Air Core i5 1.6 GHz 13" Early 2015 Model A1466 (EMC 2925) - Not Powering On

Can't afford a new MacBook Air, so fingers crossed someone can help me figure this one out! After about four years of use, the notebook battery couldn't hold a charge any more. I purchased a new battery, replaced the old by plugging it in with the little plastic tab and screwed everything back together. I attached the power cord and it eventually went from amber to green. I tried tapping the power button once... nothing... once again, nothing. Then pressing (5 secs, 10 secs, 30 secs) the power button, nothing. I tried holding down Shift+Option+Command+Power for 10 secs... the light on the power cord went from amber to green (two flashes I think), released all four, then tapped the power button. Nothing. No sound from the fan, no light on the screen or the keyboard. Nothing. Any ideas what I should try next?

The correct sequence for an SMC reset is holding Control + Option + Shift + Power. The keys on the left side of the built-in keyboard must be used.

Sometimes you need to disconnect the battery and power on the laptop without the battery. Once the laptop boots, then reconnect the battery while the laptop is still powered on. Check the status of the battery by Option clicking the battery icon on the menu bar. It is best to place the laptop on its right side while the bottom case is removed so you do not accidentally short out the board. You should do this on a non-conductive surface to be safe.

It is possible you received a defective battery. It is extremely difficult finding a reliable or good quality third party battery. For best results I would only recommend using an official Apple battery if the laptop is still supported by Apple which a 2015 model is.

Unfortunately, it turns out none of the options listed worked for my case. It seems as though both batteries are reacting to the SMC reset since they both change from amber to green to amber after the reset. However, when I go to press the power button after that, nothing happens. I also tried to power on without either battery plugged in, but no dice there either. I am not able to click on the battery icon on the menu bar though—the screen doesn’t come on and neither does the backlight for the keyboard.

I did did notice that the fan comes on though. It may have been doing that all along, but it is so quiet that I may have missed it. Perhaps it is not a battery issue at this point? Any other ideas to try?
