Is this a blue tinted background because you selected the paragraph, and the highlight color is because of:

  1. The default highlight color is blue from System Preferences : General : Highlight?
    1. Click in the body text outside of your selected paragraph.
  2. You clicked Insert menu : Highlight?
    1. Click on the highlighted text, and then click the Delete in the pop-up dialog.
  3. You set a true highlight color via the Advanced Options : Text Background?
    1. Select the entire paragraph, and revisit Advanced Options : Text Background : inkwell, and click the lower-right transparency box with the diagonal red stripe.
  4. You changed the Paragraph background in the Layout tab?
    1. Select the paragraph, and then click in the Paragraph background inkwell, and select the same transparency box as 3.1

You have not been specific about anything but I am guessing (just guessing) that you are talking about Placeholder Text when you click in it, when it shows it has been selected.

All you have to do is type and it becomes straight text.

The placeholder text is to show the layout and style of the text in the template, it is not permanent, you replace it with your own text.

Either that or it is a hyperlink, which you can turn off by right clicking on it and deleting the link.
