NEW PORTS?!?!?!

what do i need to connect my iphone 8 to my brand new macbook air!!! I bought it yesterday and didn't think to ask if the ports were the same-- I just assumed since the salespeople didn't tell/ask me about it!!!! :( I live 3 hours away from the apple store!!!! BOO.
