Apple TV and Netflix

When I go to Netflix on Apple TV the shows will play but without sound. On other apps such as prime I do get sound. How can I fix this?

Thanks for the additional information. The A1427 is often referred to as 3rd generation. The audio setup seem straightforward enough to not be a cause of hardware sound issues, imho.


If you use Apple TV with stereo speakers, then try setting the audio format on Apple TV to stereo, especially if the TV doesn’t have an internal surround sound decoder/down-mixer. You might be getting partial audio otherwise (2 channels out of the 6), with almost none of a regular dialog (center speaker).


Netflix has a support page on the no sound issue: I’m getting video with no sound - Netflix Help Center. If that doesn’t resolve it, you may want to contact Netflix Customer Service.
