The speaker on the iphone 4 just stopped it working was listening to music through the speaker then all of a sudden it just stopped playing i can listen to it with headphones but not the speaker. I also can't hear the ringer also and only feel it vibrate.. what is the problem exactly? I got this phone less then 24 hours ago and don't really want to go to the apple store..
Lol.... 20 times.... "did you restart the computer 5 times" said the tech "no only 3" said the sales guy "oh no you have to restart 5 times" said the tech "oh ok ill try that" said the sales guy.....
Just plug in the headphone jack and spin in 1 or 2 turns and unplug, also try plugging it into a power source, also try a HARD RESET: Hold power and Home button for about 20-30 seconds (until you see the screen turn black) then release... dont keep holding it as it reboots as it might force a DFU.
Just posting to say I have the exact same problem as the original poster. My iPhone 4 speaker worked for about 1 week and then suddenly stopped. I can't hear the ringer either. The phone is not on mute, and the ringer/speaker volume is turned all the way up. I have tried inserting and removing the headphone jack many times. I have done a hard reset. I have even gone so far as to restore the phone both as a new iPhone, and also from a backup. None of these things have worked. I can only use the phone with headphones.
So, I have a Genius Bar appointment tonight. We'll see what they say...
I got the same problem... but I live in Brazil and there are no Apple Stores here. I'm trying to get support but they say only iPhones bought in Brazil are covered. Since I bought it while travelling through Spain, I'm basically screwed.
