I would like to turn on icloud music library on work macbook (empty itunes library) and leave it turned off on home mac and phone (loots of content), they are connected to same account.
Is that possible to do without having any consequences on my whole home library? I'm scared to try...

Each library on each computer, and each device can be independently enabled for iCloud Music Library. When you enable iCloud Music Library the local library on a computer will normally be merged with whatever is already in the cloud, on a device that might be optional.
