Messages - Disable Preview when sent a link

When someone sends me a link via Messages, instead of showing me the full http://blahblah.blah.whatever.com/whatever.htm, it shows me a preview image. Sometimes for Amazon links, instead of a preview link, it shows me an annoying video that auto plays without my consent.

How do I disable those previews? I don't want to ever see any link previews in Messages. I also don't want to try to convince my friends to send me the link in some special way, like putting periods before the link.

Just show me the full long and ugly link, all the time, without any preview images or videos.
