Cannot find Iphone backups

I have searched the forum for an answer. My back up folder on my laptop is empty. I can see the backups in itunes but I can't open them. How can I view my backups?

iPhone 6s, iOS 12

It is not possible to view the backups made from an iPhone. They can only be restored to an iPhone.

Why are you trying to view them? If you can see them in iTunes, you should be good to use them if needed.
