Second eSIM?
I already have a physical SIM and an eSIM set up. Can I add a second eSIM phone number as well? If so, do both eSIM slots use the same IMEI number?
iPhone XR, iOS 12

Yes you can store more than one eSIM profile but can only have one active at any time.
Using Dual SIM with an eSIM - Apple Support
“You can store more than one eSIM in your iPhone, but you can use only one at a time. To switch eSIMs, tap Settings, tap either Cellular or Mobile Data, and then tap the plan you want to use. Then tap Turn On This Line.”
And yes, the IMEI will not change - that is a hardware identifier (so the network knows a legitimate device is connecting) not a service or account identifier.

There is only one esim in the device. You can set up more than one cellular account on it, but only one can be active. You can't physically add a second esim.
No.
Sometimes it is extremely difficult to communitcate like this where a simple question can take 2 days to get an answer to...probably my own fault for not articulating correctly.
I am not asking if I can add a second physical eSIM. I am asking about setting up a second account on the existing eSIM. In my original post I asked "can I add a second eSIM phone number..."
I had read that the iphones support up to 5 accounts. I wanted to know if this is correct. If so, is the IMEI the same for any that I set up?
Thanks and sorry for not making my question clear.
And this is for the USA version of the iphone Xr? I have read that up to 5 eSIMs can be set up, just not working at the same time. I thought I would come here to confirm this. So is this not so?
