I currently have an apple music « individual » account. I am starting university and would like to change to student for cheaper rates however i do not want to lose any of my song. If i change my subscription will my music be lost?

No. Music should be preserved as long as you don't actually cancel the subscription before getting the Student option.


Simply go into the Apple Music subscription settings, and without cancelling change the subscription type to the Student Plan.

You will be required to provide an email from an enrolled education institution however and follow some verification steps.
