Notification to update payment information

I have this notification to update payment information and I can’t figure out how to get rid of it. We have family sharing and my husband updated the card but since I am not the I guess main user I can’t update on my end. Help I hate having notifications on my screen.

This is driving me up a f@#king wall. This notification won't clear, I don't have another credit card to use instead and I'm the primary member of my family account. One payment didn't go through, but it reprocessed the next day and was fine. I need to get rid of this, it's a constant annoyance to see on my screen.

Apple, this should not be this difficult. Just make it go away.

I had a similar issue & I fixed it myself. My issue was that when my payment didn’t go through because of the lack of funds on the card I had linked with my Apple account, it obviously caused the notification stating I needed to update my payment method. I then added funds on that same card & it took the payment but the notification would not go away. Which means this is the same underlying issue (notification not picking up on the updated payment information) try the following steps below.

Open Settings>Open iTunes & App Store>Open Apple ID>Sign Out>Sign back in.

Hi Spencer480,

Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. I understand that you're seeing a notification to update payment information, but the organizer of the family group you're a part of has done so and the notification remains. I can see why you'd reach out about this; I'd like to help. I'd recommend using the steps below to close the Settings app and restart your iPhone:

If you continue to see this notification after these steps, can you let me know what happens when you try to access the notification and payment method screen?

Best Regards.

This is the only thing that worked for me. Sign out completely and sign back in. If you're reading this and you have the notification bug and you KNOW it's not you or your bank, follow DurkyWilly's instructions before doing anything else.

Support kept telling me to call my bank, that it was an issue with me and the bank and absolutely not an Apple issue. This despite the fact that there were no updates that could be made to my payment information, despite the positive Apple ID balance, despite the card on file being the same one in my ApplePay digital wallet, the very same card that has been working via the wallet the entire time I had the notification.

I’m having the same issue as Spencer480. I have force closed all apps on both my iPhone and iPad and restarted both. I still have the Update Payment Information notification in Settings. When I click the item in settings, I'm taken to anotehr page that says "Update Payment Information - To avoid any interruption to your active subscriptions, update the payment information for your Apple ID." There is a "Continue" button. Clicking the Continue button, I am taken to a dialogue to sign in with my Apple ID. Signing in, I am greeted with the "Manage Payments" screen, and under "Payment Methods", it displays my debt card.

There is an Edit button, but it is grayed out. Clicking on the Debt card does nothing; the only active option from this page is the Back button, which returns me to Account Settings.

This is also happening to me; I got my Apple Card account, and switched payment over to that as the Family Organizer. However, I still have the Update Payment Information notification in Settings. Agreed. iOs needs conditional logic added to only trigger the notification should the family-shared payment method have an issue (and that will pretty much only be if the card has expired). I'd go a step further and say that this notification should only show on the iOS devices that the prime family account. On devices owned by other family members, any issue with payment should direct the user to contact the primary family account owner, and suggest reverting out of the family sharing arangement.

FYI: I'm on an iPhone 6, v12.x of iOS.
