Iphone contact back up to icloud

I can't seem to get the contacts on my iphone to back up to icloud. I click on "back up now", it goes through a short process and then tells me when the last successful backup took place. But when I go to icloud, the contacts are not all there. What am I missing?

iPhone 6s, iOS 12

  1. Contacts are not part of a backup
  2. The backup is encrypted and cannot be viewed.


To have your contacts on iCloud, make sure:

  1. iPhone's Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Contacts: ON
  2. You do not have any other contacts manager enabled (Yahoo, Gmail, ...)
