How to I approve my iphone

I have had this phone for about 10 months and I updated my password and now on my phone it is just stuck on a screen that says Approve this iPhone - when you look it up online it says log into your icloud account to approve this phone but it already is shown under my devices does anyone know step by step instructions for people that don't understand what to do?
