Somewhere I read about changing a setting so that I had to click to download all images in my inbox. It has now become a giant pain. I've forgotten where I made this change. Anyone able to give me some guidance?

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help getting images loaded back into your iOS mail. It sounds like you have Load Remote Images switched off in Settings > Mail. Try switching that option back on.
