I have printers that have been installed & work perfectly, but now none of the printers have "vanished" . I have had this problem before - I know there is a solution but I can not remember it.

Could be a problem with your network, e.g. several gateways on the same network confusing bonjour. Try giving the printers a static IP based on their MAC address via your router and setup new printers using those IPs.
