MY DEVICES NOT SHOWING UP IN FINDER!

This is driving me nuts - I know in the past when I plugged in my iPad or iPhone to my MacBook Pro those devices would show up in Finder under "Devices." All of a sudden they are not there. They will show in iTunes - that's not what I want, but are not shown in Finder in the sidebar under devices. I hovered over - yes, I checked on "Show". devices but they are never there. Where do I need to go to fix this??? I have vacation photos on my iPhone and my iPad that I would like to import to a folder in my MacBook Photos library but are unable to do that because the devices won't show in Finder. Any Help???
