iCloud backup

How do I change the name of my backup? It still shows as being from 2 generations earlier iPhone.

iPhone 7, iOS 12

The backups use the name of your device. If your iPhone is called Bruce’s iPhone, the backup will have the same name. iCloud only saves one backup for each device. Every subsequent backup in iCloud overwrites the previous backup. If you see an iCloud backup with the name of your old phone, then that is the backup associated with the old phone.

On your current phone go to Settings>Your Name>iCloud>iCloud Backup>On. You should see the date and time of your most recent backup for that phone. You can also see it in Settings>Your Name>iCloud>Manage Storage>Backups. If the backup off the old phone still shows in there, you can delete it if you want to do so.
