Problem with DVD/CD player

I have entered a DVD into my Macbook and every time when i do, the screen says the regional code doesn't match. How can I change the regional code if I want to watch a movie on my computer. Please respond to me ASAP.

Trouble with my iMac playing DVD’s from my external DVD player. Recently I have been getting this error message stating “you need to select the region for your DVD drive”. You are given 5 regions to select from (region 1 is North America) and after the 4th try you are locked out of selecting more. When selecting an older DVD disc that previously played without errors, this notice appears stating “The DVD-Video disc region code does not match the drive region code. You cannot change the region code for your drive”. I called Apple Care and they said it might be due to the type of player I am using and to purchase a “USB Super Drive” external DVD player meant specifically for a Mac. I purchased one and this did not solve the issue. What could be causing this problem and is there a way to work around it? I have attached screen shots of the error messages if this will help.

How do I know what region to set a DVD drive to? I just plugged a DVD player to my Mac Pro, and put a DVD in. The DVD starts playing in Viewer, then a message pops up asking me to select a region because the region set to the DVD doesn't match the region set to the drive. It says I can only select a region five more times. I think this player is one I bought from China over eBay some years back. How do I decide which region to set the drive to? I'm not sure which region to set this drive to. I found this documentation by Apple on this topic. The message box doesn't allow me to set the region to 0, which is a setting that allows the drive to work with all regions, according to the chart in the documentation. Change your DVD drive region in DVD Player on Mac - Apple Support The message says that the drive is currently set for region 1, which is North America. The DVD allows for a selection to show in different languages. I actually bought it while here in the U.S. from an organization in the U.S. It has worked on other DVD drives on a PC.

Modern DVD players are built with a copy-protection compromise built in. You may change the region code a very small number of times, and then it can no longer be changed, and to play a different region, you will need to replace the player.

That small number is five initially. Once you make five changes, you can not change it again.
