Lost my iPhone and iPad

Mine story is a bit complicated, at least for me it is. For over a year now I have encountered many difficulties. I had a iPhone 5c (now recycled). A lost iPad Mini II was supposed to be recycled, but not sure what has happened yet, since I have not gotten any phone calls back from a major tech support company yet.

I have contacted the proper privacy support team to all parties. I have only been contacted by one recently. I went as far as calling the FBI, after about 15 minutes of waiting on hold, I changed my mind and decided to take a different approach. How do I recover a iPhone 8 Plus and a new iPad 6th generation that I have only owned the iPad for one month.

I know where to go and to look, but this a rather difficult method since I believe without a shadow of a doubt that these lost iDevices have been linked up to a android phone last year and do not use anymore, my step son now owns the android phone.

Could it really be that my iPhone 8 Plus has been replaced by my old iPhone 5c and my iPad 6th Generation replaced by a old iPad mini 2 and a android phone?

I have tried the deauthorize method, but I could not remember what my credentials are and which account they are from, all dating back to 2012.

I still have every account number, including the credentials, the original receipts, hosts names, IP addresses, key numbers the external hard drive for Windows 7 and a existing Windows 10 laptop that my husband now owns to try and retrieve everything. I am not tech savvy but I have learned more in the past year than I have known since 2009.

I am the TCC owner for the Windows 7 and Windows 10 computer, plus 2 old printers configuration softwares that I had printed out a long time ago.

I have since uninstalled the iTunes from the Windows 10 computer because I thought something malicious was going on? Still unsure about that one still. My iPhone 5c was blocked but I can see it popping up for a mere second when I sign into iCloud.com. It shows 3 devices, all in black. Or perhaps it is the android device that is the 3rd one.

The closest thing I have to a computer is the Windows 10, but it only has a 32GB drive with about 7GB of memory left on it.

Help me please.

Thank you and yes there’s a lot more to this story. Too much to type.

Thank you all

Recover them how ? Do you have the two devices with you ? If you do, what do you see on their screens ?

I believe without a shadow of a doubt that these lost iDevices have been linked up to a android phone last year and do not use anymore, my step son now owns the android phone.

Why/how do you think that they are linked ?

Could it really be that my iPhone 8 Plus has been replaced by my old iPhone 5c and my iPad 6th Generation replaced by a old iPad mini 2 and a android phone?

What do you mean 'replaced' ? Which devices do you currently have ?

I have tried the deauthorize method, but I could not remember what my credentials are and which account they are from, all dating back to 2012.

Deauthorising (and authorising) only applies to computers iTunes, not iOS devices.

Yes, I still have both of my new devices, The iPhone 8 Plus and I erase the new iPad 6th generation. This is what I see. Keep in mind that I have renamed my iPhone on purpose in hopes to find it.

This is just one of the names, the other name shows up in the Apple Store app, which greyed out.

Second Question,

I had the both iDevices in possession last year and was using the iPad mini 2 with the Samsung Galaxy s9plus. I was using a key sign in method when I would check my emails from two different email companies, possibly a 3rd one.

Third Question,

the environments and my backups are a separate file or under the Desktop mode on the Windows 10 laptop with my Microsoft accounts. I have tried to access my account, but I have changed my phone number 3 times in less than a year. I decision I regret.

Fourth Question,

yes I am aware of how the Deauthorize method is used and can only be done on a PC. Which is the Windows 10 computer and the iTunes, I have a one year contract with a big tech company who helped create the Genius Bar.. They added the iTunes app to my husbands Windows 10 computer a couple of months ago. All in the same day my husbands computer was stuck in boot mode, I got locked out of my iPhone for too many passcode entries, less than 24 hours later after coming back from the apple store, I locked got locked out of my iPhone again for the same reason. Now I understand what you mean when you say rename your device.

I have a software update waiting for me to do because I was one of the unlucky ones who has been affected by the 12.3.2 software update.

I am unsure what steps I need to make before going forward with this 12.4 software update, since this new software update cannot be downgraded. The last thing I need is another problem on my hands. I have more than my fair share since March 16, 2018. The day I went from a iPhone 5c to the Samsung.

The green dot is the same device that I am currently on, my iPhone 8 Plus and I am having password issues using a iCloud.com account with my mobile provider. Another fix that needs to be addressed before I can install the newest update.

it does get better, or should I say worse, ha! 😂

thank you

This is just one of the names, the other name shows up in the Apple Store app, which greyed out.

Do you mean the Apple Store app (which lets you browse and buy from Apple's online store e.g. buying hardware), or the App Store app (for buying/redownloading apps) ?

Second Question,
I had the both iDevices in possession last year and was using the iPad mini 2 with the Samsung Galaxy s9plus. I was using a key sign in method when I would check my emails from two different email companies, possibly a 3rd one.

Not sure what you mean by 'key sign in method' (email address and its password ?), but I can read / send / delete emails on my devices and computer without the actual devices/computer being truly linked to each other.

I didn't have any issues with the previous iOS version, but I updated my iPhone 7 to 12.4 yesterday without any problems, all I did was take a backup prior to doing it

What password issues are you having with the account ?

In response to one of your questions to a linked android account, I have a rare illness that has turned my life upside down. I became ill in 2008. After many doctor visits, seeing different specialists, I was diagnosed with Conversion disorder on August 10, 2010. I went into a partial remission stage, to which I was able to function but was still have challenges that have since led me back out of remission in 2014. During the years I had been using the health app without an actual Apple Watch device. I have never owned one or seen one in person.

I was using the MyChart app to correspond with my neurologist at Penn Medicine. On October 4th 2016. My diagnosis was changed to Functional Movement Disorder, which mimics the symptoms of MS, Parkinson’s and Epilepsy. I have gone through many different stages and symptoms in relation to the other diseases, including one that is common in Parkinson’s, it’s called Dystonia. Today I am severely disabled, I have memory loss due to periods of blackouts that started in 2016. I have limb Dystonia in both of my lower extremities and I have not been able to walk since April of last year, using a cane and a walking boot. I had been using the MyChart app on the Samsung phone last year, so when I was finally able to recover that account using MyPennMedicine, their was my Samsung phone still linked to MyChart by Epic. I am extremely furious and have unanswered questions about why this practice is still being used by third party apps. It is a privacy medical security that urgently needs to be addressed along with other health apps that I had used on the Samsung phone. I am afraid to use these health apps again and I need these to make my appointments, scheduled imaging and many other features that have been linked to a android device that I cannot seem to access my other email accounts, but it’s okay for them to link up to my new iPhone using a brand new account?! Seriously not a happy camper at all. The folks that work at these mobile stores need to stop telling people that they don’t have anything to worry about with no other devices and will not be able to link to your phone or however it has been happening, all of this needs to be Stopped!! The management needs to properly train these people and keep them updated with today’s technology and breeches.

The laws need to be changed and supported by all.

I already had to deal with a Hippa Violation against the entire staff at my PCP office where I was given a report to my lab results from another patient. I called an advocate who helped me.

I am going to have to take action against someone or will apple take care of this right now?

Thank you

I am sorry. My Apple ID and my iCloud account passwords are not matching up. I am tired of changing my passwords.

I am having similar problems with my mobile carrier. Sorry for all of the confusion. I have a lot on my plate and I need help with making sure that everything syncing together at the same time. I know that the iCloud photos have a different backup? I never did quite understood how this whole process worked.

Just a a quick question. I can’t seem to find any user manual for this particular device or a folio keyboard. I could have gotten a magic keyboard for the same price. I feel as though I was sold a inventory device to make room for newer models. I feel cheated.

not sure if it’s compatible for my iPad 6th generation. Is that the correct name or was I sold a generic iPad device? It’s not a easy manual for me to come across.

😊

It will depend upon what you've selected e.g. if you are using iCloud Photos (Set up and use iCloud Photos - Apple Support) or just including them in a normal iCloud backup (Settings > id > iCloud > Photos)

Does the keyboard and case fit your iPad ? Is there a barcode or product number on the box you could do a google search on ?

There are manuals on Zagg's website : https://www.zagg.com/us/en_us/support/owners-manuals

Thank you King_Penguin for looking into this for me.

Yes there’s a barcode on the box that I can scan. I would like to learn more about how to use keyboard shortcuts. It would be nice if I can learn more about these features.

Yes it fits like a glove. I was not referring to it in that aspect, I don’t want to use a keyboard if I cannot use it for its intended purposes and what is available to me use. 😊

I never knew that I had a choice about the iCloud photos. In the past, I had usually used google drive or google photos and some windows apps to back up my photos for a just in case I lost them all.

I have no desire to ever use the Google browser right now. I am currently using Bing.

I have had too many problems and I rather not travel down that road again, not unless I have to.

If you could only see what shows up in my browsing history you may understand why.

I tried using it, but for me, I do not find it to be user friendly. Plus I cannot seem to get newer version. When I do any searches, looking up something in particular, I am always having to filtered through my searches, just so that I can see more updated content.

The stuff I tried to search for, which included the Zagg Folio Keyboard were old sites, some of which are no longer supported. It’s almost as if I am using a printer to browse the google web.

I hope that makes some sense to you?

This is the only analogy that I could come up with, one that is remotely close to what I am trying to describe.

I will write down the web addresses. Thank you very much.

Oh btw, the reason why you had no problems with the other update, is because it was “mostly the iPhone 8 and 8 plus iPhones”. Consider yourself lucky 🍀🤠

I am am still wondering if I should proceed with the update? I have apps that I not reinstalled, I am hesitate about reinstalling them. Keynotes, Pages, Numbers.

I some have backups from another account on there, at the same time I don’t want to open up another can of worms.

So tired of running into problems, plus it has been deleted from iCloud and Apple.

Especially after seeing the MyChart app linked to a old phone. No I did not prompt it, unless I woke up the app when I had installed it, a year later. Smh 🤦‍♀️

Maybe It recognized the IP address?

Thanks again King_Penguin

Cheers 🍻

One more thing, The only one password issue left is logging into iTunes. I accidentally used my iPad and didn’t realize it until a couple of days later. I canceled it when I realized that I was having syncing issues, plus I cannot do family share and I am only allowed to use one device on the iTunes app using Windows 10.

Apparently there’s another device on iTunes that is still linked to a second Facebook account that I deleted a few months ago.

I don’t understand it either, unless it’s on my original Facebook account. Another thing I miss having. It’s the closest thing I have to seeing my friends and family. Not the family I am married into. My siblings, nieces and nephews and 2 grandchildren don’t live near me. My 3 kids live in other states, one in Virginia, one in Maine and one in Pennsylvania near Maryland.

Thank you

Good morning King_Penguin,

no not yet, I was going through my emails last night and I got a response from a good source.

They provided me with another approach to go about this and who to ask for.

Once I get this fixed, I can move forward with fixing my wireless carrier account. I got myself in a pickle and I did not intended for this to happen.

I wasn’t understanding the information or the proper ways to set up my accounts.

Basically I got lost in my account and I believe that I locked myself out without having any knowledge of what I had done.

I will keep you updated.

Thank you

I would like to learn more about how to use keyboard shortcuts. It would be nice if I can learn more about these features.

Some shortcuts that might work are mentioned on this page (I don't use a keyboard with mine so can't check if they work) : https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/every-ipad-keyboard-shortcut

I am am still wondering if I should proceed with the update?

It's your choice, but as well as new features and bug fixes for all devices, it also includes security updates.

Yes We contacted Apple Yesterday. I have an appointment scheduled for Sunday August 4, 2019.

An assumption was made on behalf of my mobile carrier. I am not at all surprised by this. I am going to bite my tongue and will say this... after my husband and I went to the Verizon wireless store yesterday to have a new SIM card put in my iPhone 8 Plus.

It was at the time he shed some light on this whole situation and what has been happening.

The wrong devices was reported stolen, they were older models, ones I do not have or use anymore.

One is a > iPad mini 2 > the other a iPhone 5c > which was recycled > at a nearby Apple Store > I received a gift card for recycling it.

The > iPad mini 2 > I gave to a tech agent > by me > who had been at “my home” to help > set up a old computer. An opportunity arose for me, so I took it upon myself and asked the agent if he wouldn’t mind doing me a favor. Do you mind turning in iPad mini 2 to have it disposed properly. Being handicapped has been a challenge for me and I have not adjusted to this new way of life yet.

When I called my local store to check on the status, and to make sure it was turned in. I don’t recall ever getting a confirmation code on that specific date. According to the manager at this store, there are no records showing that the iPad mini was turned in.

Now there is a lock lost mode on my iPad 6th Generation and my iPhone 8 Plus, all because I sent a signal to because I couldn’t find it in my bed. I got the signal and it was under a stack of papers!

There is a Equipment issue with my iPad 6th Generation, this is why I have the appointment scheduled. They are going to run a diagnostic test on my iPad 6 Generation and hopefully on the iPhone 8 Plus since Apple can’t seem to recognized my serial number, but my mobile carrier can.
