deleted messages from iphone
if someone deletes their message to me on their iphone, why does it delete on my iphone? and is there a way to retrieve it?

It doesn't. It's not possible to delete messages from someone else's phone remotely.
The only way I could see this happening is if you're sharing an iCloud account with them.
