Any apps to reduce the dock size that I would like ?

Third-party apps can't reduce the dock size.

the reason I asked was an app I used on desktop some time back.
allowed more functionality.
it be useful now on touch screen to flick up / down on left or right, with a swipe to the right to hide, bit like a picture in picture

do you have a desktop ?
and are the icons in the doc to the max size or do you prefer to reduce to a size that suits ?
might be be but when I had a desktop I have icons hide or off to the left, depending upon what i did.
i would have just the basic daily icons in the dock and not every program in the dock.

My desktop is Windows and the apps on the bottom as I would call that the dock are very small. I honestly wouldn't mind if they were larger.
I suggest you wait til iPadOS 13 arrives. It may well suit your desires better.

Of course if anyone feels the dock size is an issue, they should tell Apple. I don't have any issue with it personally.
Because it's hard coded into iOS and no app can alter iOS.
