FCPX Flow not working

Flow is a great addition to FCPX... when it works. I find that it is buggy and I'm not alone. Lots of discussion online about this transition not working. Nobody has a fix that works. COME ON APPLE... Fix this!

I am working in FCPX 10.4.5 - My use of FLOW was between similar photos in a slide show as a "poor man's morph effect". FLOW worked intermittently - then quit working. If I swapped out pictures... it would not work. I also have experienced this intermittent success between video clips in an interview. Over time, I began seeking a 3rd party morph style program instead of FLOW. After 4 hours of trying suggestions found online with no success... I found a work around. If I output the stills as MASTER VIDEO files... the FLOW transition would work on the files. Perhaps FLOW is not meant to work with photos? Intermittent success has been my experience... and online, MANY people have had FLOW quit working. Is it a BUG?

Can you give some examples where it doesn’t work?

This Flow transition is not magic. It can help smooth out some slight cuts but in my limited experience it seems that some people expect too much of it.

For example if you want to cut a word or a short pause from a talking head video it may work if the speaker does not move too much; otherwise just use a cross dissolve or fade to color and acknowledge the break in continuity.
